Presented in an 11 1/4" x 14" portfolio with a
ribbon closure, the four hand pressed 9" x 11 1/2" prints tab into the
accordion folded spread, that when fully opened is over 60" wide and beautifully
displays the entire set of prints. The slip sheets, which protect the prints,
tell the story of the Doomsday Animals.
This edition was hand printed on an antique Columbian handpress and an antique Washington handpress by Brad Keech of Pressure Printing.
These handpresses were commonplace in the late 1800's and were
replaced in the 1900's by more modern methods of printing. The traditional
process is a painstaking one that produces one impression at a time, resulting in
beautiful prints with depth and dimension not achievable by any electronic
method. All of the prints were printed on acid free cream Rives BFK fine
printmaking paper.
