2006 Collection of Interpretive Work Inspired by Family Guy
In an industry first, Fox commissioned this series of original art as a
celebration of the passion of the "Family Guy" fans and the creative spirit
embodied in the show.
Twenty-one artists of the Lowbrow Pop Movement have taken the show's characters,
design and sensibility as a starting point and literally let their imaginations
run wild.
The result is a wholly original and eclectic series of images in a variety of
media that bear the unmistakable "Family Guy" imprint through the prism of each
artist's entirely unique style and perspective.

Born in Philadelphia, but raised in Fresno, Luke Chueh's (pronounced CHU)
formal art education began and ended at California Polytechnic State University,
San Luis Obispo where he earned a BS in Art & Design (Graphic Design
concentration). Before graduating, he was employed by the Ernie Ball Company,
working in-house as designer/illustrator. While there, Chueh was responsible for
several award winning designs and was featured in the design annuals of
Communication Arts and Print Magazine. At the same time, he also created,
produced, wrote, designed, edited and published "E.X.P.," a 'zine dedicated to
the "Intelligent Dance Music (IDM)" genre. In 2003, Chueh moved to Los Angeles
to further pursue a career in design. However, a lack of employment
opportunities left him resorting to painting as a way to keep busy (a habit he
picked up while attending Cal Poly). He got his start when Los Angeles' premiere
underground art show, Cannibal Flower, invited him to show at their monthly
events. Since then, Chueh has quickly worked his way up the ranks of the LA art
scene, establishing himself as an artist not to be ignored. Employing minimal
color schemes, simple animal characters and a seemingly endless list of
ill-fated situations, Chueh stylistically balances cute with brute, walking the
fine line between comedy and tragedy.

Mark Covell was born in 1972 in Hartford, CT and began drawing fanatically at
the age of five. The young artist, fed on a healthy diet of comics, Star Wars
and Frank Frazetta, immersed himself in the drawing and painting of these
favorite subject matters. After graduating Paier College of Art, Mark began
illustrating children's books. Since then, he has moved on to a successful
career of concept art and storyboarding. Mark's work has been featured in the
New York and Los Angeles Society of Illustrators, Playboy magazine, and is
regularly featured in Spectrum, the Best of Contemporary Fantastic Art. Mark
currently resides in Burbank, CA and is a storyboard artist on Family Guy.

A concoction of the City of Angels, a mutation if you will, of this
disgustingly, beautiful city. Or so it seems sometimes.... It's not all
glamorous here in Hollywood, quite the opposite most of the time, yet never
boring. So how does this play into my career as an artist? Well, it doesn't,
just wanted to get it off my chest! At 19, I was blessed with a job as an
animator on 'the Simpsons,' you know, them yellow people.. Now at 30, I STILL
work on the show, except I do illustration and toy design, for the show of
course. Long time with Homer, I tell ya! So for the last two years or so, I
submerged myself in Photoshop and Painter, trying to get somewhat a grip on
them. My eventual goal is to become a concept designer ala Ryan Church, Feng
Zshu, the masters of their field. I know I have a ways, but I have much
inspiration to draw upon!

The only son of two talented artists, Joe Vaux learned the joys of creation
at an early age. He has been honing his skills for the past 15 years - first
receiving a BFA from Syracuse and then working with the many wonderfully
creative folks of the animatino world. Joe has worked on everything from Spawn
to Harold and the Purple Crayon to his current position on Family Guy. Although
he has always been pursuing his own projects, he has only been showing his work
for the past six years. Joes' work is truly imaginative. He is able to create
entire worlds around the simplest of things. The worlds he creates are dark, but
playful at the same time. You can look over and over at his paintings and still
find new inhabitants. Joe's work has appeared in many galleries on the West
Coast.
